What Makes Us Thankful This Thanksgiving

What Makes Us Thankful This Thanksgiving

In light of Thanksgiving, Performance Physical Therapy wanted to take a moment to reflect on what we are thankful for.

An amazing year filled with memorable highlights

Jennifer O’Toole, Physical Therapist Assistant, shared a highlight from this year, “I have been able to attend multiple continuing education Cup Therapyclasses, all with an emphasis in different manual therapy techniques. In August I took a course in Myofascial Decompression (Cup Therapy). Following the course, I became the second PTA in the country to be certified in this technique!”

Folsom Clinic Director Mallory McGowan, PT, DPT,  also mentions the Cup Therapy course in her highlights, “One of my favorite memories this year was learning about Myofascial Decompression. It adds another tool in my belt of physical therapy techniques, and I have seen immediate success in mobility and function so far in the 3 months I’ve been using this technique. I have also had a great time volunteering for conditioning and helping a youth cheerleading team with body mechanics and strength to reduce the incidence of injury. It always feels good to use your skills and knowledge to help the community!”

Teamwork makes the dream work

When asked about the best part of working in the Rancho clinic, Rancho Cordova Clinic Director Shannon Zalewski instantly shared, “Hands down, it’s the people. Both the staff and the patients. Rancho has such a positive atmosphere that I look forward to all the daily interactions.” Jennifer O’Toole, who works at the East Sacramento location had this to say about the J Street clinic, “I like working in an upbeat/busy environment. At J Street there is always something going on. We have a great team here that makes coming to work fun.” Dr. McGowan was happy to add, “The best thing about [the Folsom] clinic is our hard-working, and fun team. Our patients are pretty fun and sassy too! Never a dull moment.”

Grateful to call the Sacramento region home

sacramento, ca Dr. McGowan shared her love for Sacramento, “I think there is a wide variety in Sacramento of activities to perform, places to travel, and good restaurants!” Jennifer O’Toole also shared, “There’s always something to do here! Whether it’s going to the farmer’s markets or street festivals downtown, trips to the bay area, or trips to Tahoe, I don’t think I’ve had a boring weekend here yet!”
