4 Easy Tips to Maximize Physical Therapy

- Positive Attitude
Be optimistic and have a positive attitude. Tackle each visit with your best attitude. Your attitude is as important as your physical wellness. What motivates you? Focus on that motivation during your recovery.
- Be Punctual and Prepared
Show up on time to all your visits to get the maximum benefit out of each visit. Be prepared, wear appropriate shoes and comfortable clothing to all your visits. You want to be able to move comfortably with confidence.
Discuss YOUR goals with your Physical Therapist at your first visit. Communicate pain and injury accurately so that plans can be customized appropriately. Always ask questions and address concerns.
- Commit to your “Home Exercise Plan”
Your PT may give you a list of exercises specifically designed for you to do at home. Your ultimate outcome can be impacted by how much effort you put into following through on your home program. Write down questions to ask at your next visit, if you have any. Your therapist will review your exercises with you. Be prepared to ask questions at your next follow up visit if you are not sure what to do. Stay committed and do ALL of your exercises.
